Teenagers really can make a difference. The Assault (Recon Team Angel Book 1) follows a group of teenagers as they attack an alien base. They have spent years learning to be aliens and even had surgery to make them look like aliens. Now they are on their way to assault the place that could make or break the human resistance.

The Assault has some nice characterization. When you can read a page of solid dialogue without losing track of who is saying what, it shows how strong the characters are. Even when the standard traitor subplot introduced, interest in what is going on does not flag. This book is rather unusual for the first of a new series. The biggest problem is that everything is wrapped up at the conclusion of the book. Even the characters’ fates are revealed at the end. It will be interesting to see how the series continues, but it is definitely off to a good start.
