Following a year of terrible events, Seamus McCree plans to spend a quiet winter at his family cabin on Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. One day he is overtaken by a blizzard, and when he finally arrives at his cabin he discovers a naked woman on the porch. She is hypothermic, has a high fever and rope burns on her wrists and ankles. She can’t remember who she is or how she got there. Snowbound, he struggles to keep her alive while trying to get a message out that they need rescuing. Unknown to Seamus, several armed men are in the area hunting for the woman with deadly intent.

This book is exciting and wonderful from the first page. The local people are delightful and unforgettable, a reminder of the good folks who live in rural areas all over this country. Unexpected and stunning surprises send the plot careening in different directions. It is one of those rare books that will have the reader thinking about the people and the story long after it has been put back on the shelf.
