My One and Only is a light, character-heavy romance. Harper James is a divorced divorce attorney with a constantly upbeat yet sarcastic attitude. Much of the story in this book is driven by relentlessly snarky or perky dialogue and predictably supporting characters. The ditzy half-sister, the over the top lovable step-mother, the taciturn but well-meaning father and a somewhat clueless fiancé play the parts which would be expected. When Harper James finds herself on a cross-country drive with her ex-husband, the story provides the reader with the formulaic couple finding love again, losing love again only to find it again arc. These are the elements which make a typical romance and My One and Only does not veer far from tradition or expectation.
