The bottom line of this book is the thrill of the chase, both of the bad boy and of the witty woman who’s proving hard to capture. The deep plot and vivid description make it a page-turner. Riveting from the moment you begin reading about the handsome man – locked away and obedience bound to a secretive woman in exchange for his freedom. Halfway through The Secrets of a Scoundrel the story makes one wonder who the scoundrel really is, as both Lord Nick Forrester and Lady Virginia Burke have plenty of scoundrel-like behaviors and actions of their own. Not only rich and accurate to the historical period, the wonderful role reversal and dialogue of the story leave you wanting to keep reading. The mystery and heroics add a twist to the whole book. Gaelen Foley has written a wonderful romance that could compete in many other categories as well.
