10If you have ever made a New Year’s Resolution to start a vegetable garden, here is your change to follow through. In their book Week-by-Week Vegetable Gardener’s Handbook, authors Ron and Jennifer Kujawski lay out a user-friendly plan that will allow you to be successful. This book is for both beginner and advanced gardeners. The Kujawski’s take you through a week-by-week plan for the growing season. Their approach to gardening is different from other books which is what makes it unique and enticing. They give gardening suggestions based on the average date of the last frost in your area. Simply figure out how many weeks out you are before that last frost date and follow the handbook’s suggestions. For examples, if you are 20-15 weeks before the last frost, you’ll want to inventory your seeds and test their viability. You’ll make sure to have seed starting supplies and you’ll want to begin ordering the seeds you’ll need this season. Follow this pattern each week and at the end you’ll be enjoying the fruits (and vegetables) of your labor. Take this handbook in the garden and write notes and reminders for next year. Happy gardening!
