There are lots of things that go bump in the night to keep the star of this book, the sleepless little vampire, awake well through the night! Sleepless children, both vampire and human, will enjoy the story as each spooky and slightly scary creature makes an appearance and a noise that might be keeping the little vampire awake. The ending is predictable yet fun; as we all know, vampires are nocturnal, but it isn’t all the night noises keeping this little vampire awake. Morning comes, and with it a big yawn as all the spooky and scary creatures goes to sleep including the little vampire. Written and illustrated by Robert Egielski (Caldecott Medal winner for Hey, Al by Arthur Yorinks in 1987), the illustrations were created using ink and watercolors. This is a perfect book for the Halloween season and a great read-aloud for any child who loves spooky creatures and likes to ask for just one more story before bedtime.
