Nika’s life has never been ordinary.  Separated from her sisters and trapped in a mental institution for years, she has had to work hard to get herself strong and mentally stable in order to achieve her ultimate goal:  finding her sister, Tori, who has been trapped as a prisoner of the evil Synestryn.  Mentally linked with Tori yet finding her presence fading, Nika must race against the clock and convince Madoc, the Sentinel who saved her life, to help her before it is too late.

Living Nightmare is the latest book in the Sentinel Wars series by author Shannon K. Butcher.  The book stands out among others in the same genre by its attention to detail in the overall plot – the war between the Sentinels and the Synestryn.  Making that the focus, rather than the romantic parts (although those are definintely there) makes this book and series more interesting and fun to read.  The characters are nicely written and complex and it is gratifying to see such strong female characters throughout the book.  Fans of paranormal romance will definitely want to pick up this book.
