By Will Eisner
Abrams Comicarts, $21.95, 272 pages

It’s easy to forget everything Will Eisner has done. PS Magazine: The Best of The Preventive Maintenance Monthly is a compilation of his work and includes the best of his military maintenance books. It is apparent that Eisner had a lot of fun creating these pieces. His look back at the United States Army’s legendary maintenance problems demonstrates that the organization does indeed listen to the grunts in the field. Don’t expect a traditional manual. The material explores his comic books and graphic novels. Characters include a grizzled sergeant, bumbling privates, random grunts and a curvy female maintenance specialist (one of Eisner’s specialties). This book may or may not interest comic collectors. Anyone who desires to learn more about the military will appreciate this look at the United States Army from the perspective of its maintenance personnel.
