by Peter Lerangis
Scholastic, $12.99, 190 pages

In 39 Clues: Cahills vs. Vespers: Book Three: The Dead of Night the Vespers are back and this time they are using Atticus against Dan. Atticus’ role in the Cahill Legacy evolves, even as events threaten to destroy him. Will Amy and Dan be torn apart by a competing love interest and the family secret? Loyalty is questioned when a Vesper mole is uncovered. All characters, even hostages, have a job to do. As Dan’s collection increases, so do the dilemmas he must face. Although the situation itself is unrealistic, character reactions make it an intriguing book. Author Peter Lerangis has managed to keep up the pace of the series. This book is filled with excitement, tension and one scary family. It is no surprise that the Clue Wars have become so intense. After finishing this book, fans can look forward to the next installment.
