For those looking to explore the genre of the Terminator this is a fun book. If You Like The Terminator… takes a hard look of sorts at the Terminator franchise and its spread into other media, and why it is a success. It also looks at other movies that fans of the movies may find interesting, looking at the good, the bad, and the just plain weird. It ends up with a listing of science fiction’s Top 100 Moments, a listing of the top books, games and movies for science fiction fans.
This book was written by a fan. Although, there are times when that becomes a bit annoying, the snarky comments could only be made by someone who knows the genre inside and out. This is a fun exploration of not only the Terminator franchise but the genre as a whole, with no quarter given to any of the movies, books, or television shows discussed. As the book explores tech noir and robots, post apocalyptic movies and time travel movies, it looks at science fiction and why it continues to help define who we are. This is a great book, especially if you need to explain yourself to friends.
