Fish and Cows and Trains, Oh My!

By Lisa Moser, Illustrated by Benji Davies
Random House Books for Young Readers, $16.99, 40 pages

Railroad Hank is not too bright, but what he lacks in brains, he makes up for in heart. His friend Granny Bett is feeling kind of blue, and he is on a mission to cheer her up. His train certainly has a lot of room to carry wonderful things from his country friends to Granny Bett. With chickens, fish and cows, chaos is sure to ensue, but laughter often follows. Combining linguistic repetition and matching objects with their predecessors, this book not only delights children, but they will quickly memorize it and clamor for it to be read again and again. Cows and trains are two subjects that never fail to delight young children, male or female, and Railroad Hank has them both, plus a great deal more.
