Bogie Fans Should Look Elsewhere

By Eli Rill
BearManor Media, $14.95, 45 pages

In Bogie: The Final Chapter, acting coach Eli Rill shares his memories from the set of Humphrey Bogart’s last film. Unfortunately, Rill’s insights and anecdotes are hardly substantial enough for a book consisting mostly of unorganized recollections with no apparent framework. Add to that the subheadings, which halt the narrative in its tracks — much like when you’re driving a stick-shift and the car suddenly stalls, then lunges forward – and the reader is left wondering where Rill’s editor went.

While Rill did work closely with Bogart on the set of his last film, Bogie fans may want to look elsewhere for their fix.
