If you grew up in the 1980s, you likely remember watching a cartoon television series called The Smurfs, about tiny blue creatures with white hats and pants who live in mushroom-shaped houses find fun and adventure in their own special world. In the children’s book Marry Me, Smurfette!, the little guys are in for a shock!

It’s a normal day in Smurf Village. To everyone’s surprise, Smurfette decides that she would like to get married. But every Smurf has a crush on her. Who will she choose to be her husband? In order to make her decision, she says that she will marry the Smurf who brings her the moon. Smurfette really means that she’d like a husband that would to anything to make her happy. But the Smurfs take her request literally! Hefty Smurf tries to pole vault high enough to grab the moon. Jokey Smurf attaches a long rope to his bow and arrow and attempts to shoot it down. Will any Smurf succeed? Whatever happens, you can always be sure that Papa Smurf will come to the rescue.

Kids will immediately notice that the Smurfs frequently replace both nouns and verbs in their everyday speech with the word “smurf” (i.e. “Grumpy Smurf was in a smurfy mood.”). In addition to reading an awesome story, kids will enjoy the 40 included smurftastic stickers featuring all the characters from the book.
