The Perfect Book for Your Vehicle-Loving Child

By Nicholas Blechman
Scholastic, $16.99, 48 pages

Night Light will delight your vehicle-loving child. This story is part counting book, part guessing game. Pages have die-cut holes representing the number of lights on vehicles. Once your child turns the page, the type of vehicle is revealed. For example, “one light shining bright” belongs to a train while “five lights cleaning day and night” belongs to a street sweeper. The book progresses from one to ten and features colorful drawings of both usual and unusual vehicles such as a snow plow and a tank truck used to fuel airplanes. Night Light surprises your child with simple and fun cutouts. The words are unpretentious and children can easily follow along with the story. There is no doubt that your child will continue to be surprised no matter how many times you reveal the number of lights that belong to each of the fun vehicles.
