A young Amelia Bedelia explores the library on a field trip, discovering all the work that gets done and the people who do it. Of course the tasks and actions and words are open for misinterpretation given that it’s Amelia Bedelia we’re dealing with. Can a “fine” be bad? (It’s good isn’t it?) Where are the “stacks”? (Amelia doesn’t see piles of things) The library and all it offers is presented through the field trip, giving young readers a familiar, comfortable space they’ll know and can explain to the confused Amelia Bedelia.
