Vancouver, Canada is beautifully photographed in this unique reference book that introduces the concept of Urban Agriculture to kids ages 3-8. It is split into four easy sections: Growing, Sharing, Eating and Caring. Upon first approaching this book, the parent should probably start by reading “About this book and Urban Agriculture” which is actually the back page. Reading this first will prepare the parent to begin the conversation that will most assuredly take place when this book is read together with children. While this book introduces the idea of Urban Agriculture and some suggestions for activities to do with children, it does not give specific instructions for how a family might bring this social movement into the home. Children will enjoy the colorful real photos often placing kids like them in the activities described. Parents may not be fond of this book because it will require further research to carry out some of the suggestions given in the book.
