Touchstone, $24.99, 384 pages

Fans of the horror genre always have their eyes peeled for the latest, greatest spooky story. Red Rain, by bestselling author R.L. Stine, is a must-read that will keep adults up late at night. In the past, R.L. Stine primarily wrote for kids and tweens. He is best known for his Goosebumps and Fear Street series. But now adults can enjoy Stine’s creativity as he concentrates on writing books for grown-up fans. Travel writer Lea Sutter is stranded on a small island off the coast of South Carolina as a hurricane rips through the area, destroying everything in its path. After the storm clears, Lea meets orphaned twin boys who have managed to survive. She then decides to take twins Samuel and Daniel back home to Long Island to live with her family. Mark, Lea’s husband, and her two children are totally against the idea. As things get stranger, the family grows more suspicious of the twins’ intentions. Even they can’t guess who, or what, the twins really are. Soon dead bodies are piling up and Mark is the main suspect. Combine terror, a bit of the supernatural and you get Red Rain.
