Battle Royal: A Novel
Battle Royal by Lucy Parker is a sweet confection in itself. Spicy Sylvie and secretly sweet Dominic are the perfect match. In this sugary enemies-to-lovers story, Sylvie is an up-and-coming baker who has made a name for herself in spite of her critics. Her biggest critic, Dominic De Vere, is made of old money and sophisticated cakes that instantly clash with Sylvie’s bright and glittery concoctions.
On the outside, he is as bitter as the dark chocolate he’s famous for, but on the inside he’s sweeter than a cupcake. She’s made of sugar, spice, and everything determination. Her personality shines throughout this book, making their story tastier with every bite. The sexual tension is delicious and the clever banter makes the characters pop off the pages.
Not only is it easy to care about the main characters, the book is sprinkled with personalities that put the cherry on top of this romance sundae. Parker writes a story that makes your heart melt faster than ice cream on a hot day. I couldn’t read it fast enough and found myself reaching for seconds.
