Don’t Lose Your Head: Life Lessons from the Six Ex-Wives of Henry VIII
This amazing book is told from the perspectives of King Henry VIII’s wives (and at the beginning his mother)! It’s filled to the brim with fun history told by witty banter as the queens go through their stories. If you enjoyed the way the Percy Jackson series is written, then I’d say you would enjoy the way Don’t Lose Your Head is crafted too. It does cuss some so make sure you’re ok with that. I would recommend it for YA and up readers. As far as I know, the facts in it are true and the way Harriet Marsden tells them makes this book a fun and easy read! I had gone into this book having listened to the musical Six and wanting to know more and it didn’t disappoint. This book is a great compliment to that musical. The beginning introduction was a bit long but still good! It provides a rather useful family tree, there is a lot to keep up with in this family! You can tell Harriet put a lot of thought into the book and cared about the subject. Overall it’s a great book for those interested in Six or just learning some fun history facts!
