“An old man and woman took care of a beautiful forest. They longed for children for many years. One of the trees gave a branch for the man to make something special. He made five babushka dolls out of the branches and gave them to his wife. She loved them and cared for them like they were her daughter, and there was spring and happiness in the home. When a wolf comes to threaten the sisters, will it be the end of the happiness or will the wolf be driven away?

The writing in this book is beautiful. I really went through the emotions of being sad and happy for the man and woman. I think it is great for kids that there are just a few sentences on each page; however, the text is hard to read because of the font size, and sometimes the backgrounds made the white words blend in. The topic seems like it might be difficult for kids to grasp.

The illustrations were well done. I loved the colorful pictures and the Russian style. There were a lot of interesting things to look at on each page. My three-year-old enjoyed the colorful dolls, which she thought were pretty. I would recommend this book for ages four to eight.”
