Description
From the table of contents, notes, appendix, and of course the content, all of it in this book is geared toward younger readers. The narrative is chatty, informal, and informative. The bright bold illustrations compliment the text. Both in conjunction work to simplify complex issues, and make the concepts memorable.
While the book’s style is informal and relaxed, the content is prodigious. The book covers the biological mechanism of speaking, non-verbal communication, neologisms, technologies that support long-distance or mass communication, etiquettes of communication, dangers and benefits of social media, famous speakers, and even has a timeline of innovations that aid communication (writing, printing, radio, internet, etc.). Within its pages are also situations where silence is used as a communication tool, and situations where not communicating may be more appropriate than communicating.
It is incredible that so much information can be packed in just a few pages. The material is not only electric (covering science, history, behavior, and culture), but also deep enough to provide learning for most general readers. The narrative is inclusive, fun, and accessible. The illustrations are warm, vibrant, and bold. Recommended for curious all readers (young and old).
