Jen adores her job working for Clarion University but that doesn’t mean she enjoys the judgment she receives from coworkers who don’t appreciate her preference for genre fiction. To add to her stress, one of the professors gets into a confrontation with a student of Jen’s which only gets worse when that same professor’s body is discovered. The police believe they have the perfect suspect but Jen knows her student isn’t capable of something so horrendous. She just needs to prove it.

Gilbert quickly catches your attention with an opening line that will immediately make you like Jen and her attitude. The mystery doesn’t waste a second getting into the murder and you know who the victim is before the first chapter ends. The quick pace steadily sets up clues as Jen digs into the professor’s life which takes you into one twist after another. The banter is delightful with Jen and Zach possessing a snappy back-and-forth that is flirty and clever. He’s a charming partner-in-crime who helps her investigate and carries the potential for some romance.

Gilbert’s standard charm and wit are prevalent throughout Schooled in Murder and will leave you excited to see where else Jen’s story will go.
