Description
Jessie had planned on a career in finance, but when it is abruptly cut short by a layoff, she heads back home to Tennessee. Seeing it as an opportunity to start again, Jessie decides to resurrect her old YouTube channel and start a Korean cooking business, surprised by the support from her parents. Soon after arriving home, she runs into her old nemesis, Daniel Choi, who has always served as a barometer for success to her Korean parents and was her constant benchmark while growing up. Only this time, home on sabbatical, Daniel is helping her, securing business partners and offering technical assistance. This new Daniel is confusing to her, but does he feel like she does when he’s near?
While the title may inspire some Happy Trails humming, Jessie’s trails are anything but happy. They are alternately funny and cringy, yet realistic. The story is less about starting a business than it is about new beginnings, families and relationships, so some steps in her business building are glossed over. A beach read, a patio perusal, a vacation book––this fits any reading need where a warm hug and a coffee mug are desired.
