Description
In Somewhere, a young girl and her father go for a walk in a beautiful park. Eventually, however, the little girl knows she must explore on her own. Saying goodbye to her father, she sets off on her own adventure, sliding down leaves and discovering treasures such as a peso, leaves, feathers, and flowers. When she discovers a quiet place, she thinks of her father, who would enjoy the spot and might be lonely. She decides to return to him. For a brief moment, she is hesitant and feels lost, but she keeps her head and follows her muddy footprints right back to her father’s waiting hug. After sharing her newfound treasures with her father, they set off for somewhere they have never been.
In a world that seem frightening at times, Robie Harris reminds young readers that the world can also be beautiful and exciting. If you get a little afraid or lost, keep your head, and you’ll be fine. Moreover, Armando Marino’s watercolor and ink illustrations in lush, warm tones further encourage the reader to explore and reveal a little secret: the young girl may not have been as alone as she thought!
