Star Wars: The Rising Storm (The High Republic) (Star Wars: The High Republic)

We rated this book:

The books in this series, The High Republic, are an amazing addition to the Star Wars universe. The new characters and different time periods allow authors to explore new themes without having to work around pre-existing media. It’s very interesting to see the Jedi Republic in what seems to be a better time of their power and influence over the galaxy, before they became more of a military than an effort for peace. Though, we still see some of the more deadly sides in these books.

If you haven’t read other books set during the High Republic era, I would suggest reading them before this one or you may get a bit lost. I had only read one of the other books and felt a bit confused reading The Rising Storm, but it was a good book nonetheless. It switches points of view almost every chapter and not really in any particular order, so if you’re not a fan of multiple points of view you might want to pick a different book. The characters that appear were well written and my favorite by far was a Bell Zettifar and his charhound Ember. It was really fun to see pets within the Jedi Order. Overall, this book was a good read and I can’t wait to see what the other books have to offer.
