The Empress of Time

We rated this book:

Ren will do anything to save her brother from the endless darkness in her realm. Even eating the souls of hundreds every night to increase her strength and break through the barrier keeping them apart. But not all is well when she finds out her past trying to catch up with her, and her old bully has become the leader of the British reapers. In order to stop her, Ren must put her trust in a man with her dead fiancé’s face, someone she never thought she’d see again, tricky yökai, and gods and goddesses who are less than willing to help her.

Ren trusts no one, the only person she does trust is her brother, and he no longer trusts her, in fact, he wants little to do with Ren after she abandoned him to the darkness. Their relationship is broken and doesn’t fix itself in a few chapters, it takes the whole book, and I loved seeing them work on it. Ren is a goddess, yet she and the other supernatural beings still act very human at times.
