The Modern Proper is a cookbook that any busy family needs to own. With over one hundred recipes that are simple and delicious, authors Holly Erickson and Natalie Mortimer understand what the modern family needs. I love that this book is organized according to its main protein component including eggs, chicken, pork and beef, seafood, and meatballs. There are also sections for meatless dishes, soups, and sauces and dressings. One of the recipes I really want to try is the “Eggs with Crispy Green Onion Rice and Nori”. Asian-inspired with umami flavors, this one will probably be one I make over and over again because it’s so easy. The recipe for “Steak and Grains with Herb Butter Vinaigrette” also looked quite delicious and the vinaigrette seems like it could be made in advance. The Modern Proper has beautiful full-colored mouth-watering photographs to accompany each recipes. I always feel that it is easier to choose a recipe if you can see what the final product will look like. The only category which would have been nice to have is dessert and drinks. Otherwise, this book is a winner!
