Description
Willie Nelson is one of the most recognizable names on the country music scene and as a pop music icon, actor, and philanthropist. For the last seven decades, Willie has written and recorded some of the most iconic songs and played to millions of fans. It hasn’t always been Good Times. There were plenty of Sad Songs and Waltzes and certainly Old Age and Treachery. But things always got a lot better when he was On the Road Again.
Willie Nelson: A Graphic History is written by T.J. Kirsch and illustrated by various artists, including Coskun Kuzgun, Jason Pittman, J.T. Yost, and many others. A different artist illustrates each chapter, and Adam Walmsley provided chapter intros. Kirsch follows Willie’s life from his modest upbringing in Abbott, Texas, to making a name for himself as a singer/songwriter, to his incredible stardom. Kirsch does a great job highlighting the highs and lows of Willie’s life. Much of his research came from the various biographies of Willie’s life, including one by Susie Nelson, one of Willie’s daughters. It is obvious that this graphic novel was written by a true “Opry Member” and is perfect for any fan of Willie Nelson.
