By Margaret McNamara; Illustrated by Mark Fearing, Schwartz & Wade Books, 32 pages

The Three Little Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf is the backdrop for this quirky, science-based children’s tale for your 4 to 8 year olds. The Three Little Aliens and the Big Bad Robot by Margaret McNamara and illustrated by local artist, Mark Fearing, shares the same conceptual story as the former with Mama sending her three aliens off to find their own planets. Each of the aliens chooses their planet from our solar system and the last little pig…Oh! I mean, last little alien choosing the wisest planet for his home.

Aside from the name difficulty with Bork, Gork and Nklxwcyz for young readers, this is an engaging and educational story with often-times lyrical language reminiscent of favored long-standing historical fairy tales. Illustrations by Mark Fearing are really what make the book so enjoyable! His vibrant “outer space” colors and true depictions of our planets and solar system is lifelike in their cartoon brilliance.

Overall, a most enjoyable read with the silliness entertainment volume cranked up to 11!
