There were no tricks, just treats for me this Halloween. My latest middle-grade novel “Saving Halloween” vaulted to No. 1 on Amazon’s bestseller listing of Children’s Halloween books on Oct. 31.
“Saving Halloween” by Lisa Ard
The title definitely helped readers find it during the Halloween season, but as several reviewers have noted, this book is a story for all seasons.
I hope readers enjoy identifying the deception in the story. There are misleading characters, subtle wording and beguiling actions that kids can have fun puzzling over. Even the title has more than one meaning.
“Saving Halloween” is the recipient of a 2012 Kay Snow Writing Award for Young Readers. This is my third book; the first two are chapter books in the Dream Seeker series, which offers lots of action and adventure. Series are popular at this age (7-10 years), when kids are taking off with reading. They need quick-paced, short books to consume. “Fright Flight, Dream Seekers Book One” is available through the North Central Regional Library system.
I will read from my books at the Wenatchee library at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Books will be available for sale and signing. Look for more information on my books at authorlisaard.com.
