A spunky red-haired explorer named Julia travels a foreign land searching for the perfect place to land her unique house. She sees the perfect spot far in the distance and has her heart set on making it her forever home. As her house marches quickly forwards on its rooted limbs, Julia falls into a deep dark pit. She fears being left behind by her house, which was supposed to be a safe haven for all lost creatures. While she races toward the horizon, Julia discovers several forgotten creatures along the way. She worries that her house is too small for the copious amount of creatures that begin following her on her journey.

When Julia finds her house in the ideal location, she is devastated to find it torn in pieces. The thankful creatures gather the rubble of her previous home and create a home that will fit everyone. Author and illustrator Ben Hatke makes readers feel like they are a part of this magical tale.
