Elliott and his family have moved to a new house. While Elliott is in his room reading a book, a storm comes through, with wind whooshing and branches knocking against the house. When Elliott looks out the window, he sees some children playing. His mother, who is busy unpacking moving boxes, suggests that Elliott go outside and make some new friends while she gets on with her work. Elliott puts his boots on and takes his boat out to play in the puddles of the Sunday rain, which makes the world smell so wonderful. As soon as Elliott puts his boat in a puddle, the other children join him and their imaginations take over.

Author Rosie J. Pova has written a perfectly sweet story that will comfort children who are facing a move or who have just been through one, or children who are worried about how they might make new friends. Illustrator Ameriah Rauscher populates the pages with absolutely enchanting illustrations filled with lovely details, all in soft colors, which will keep little ones’ eyes engaged as they listen to the story. This will quickly become a favorite, and youngsters will want to read it over and over.
