Description
In You Always Come Back, we meet July Weaver, whose little sister was murdered nine years ago, the first victim of the Pacific Lake serial killer. July claimed it was her father, Harry, who committed the crime after she was also attacked. Fast-forward to now and July has been called back home by her older brother, Auggie, because their younger brother, Deck, tried to commit suicide. Home is the last place July wants to be, especially as she begins to discover that she might have been wrong all along and someone else is the killer. And it’s possible they aren’t done yet.
This story is disturbing and dark, but very character-driven. It’s more about the Weaver family dynamics, as messed up as they are, than the actual killings. For a debut, this was fantastic and hard to put down. While heartbreaking, there are little slivers of hope shining through. This is a great story of how we may never truly know someone, the struggles of addiction and mental health issues, and forgiveness. If you enjoy dysfunctional family dramas, this book is for you.
