Description
Older children ages seven to eleven will delight in this unconventional story about Santa’s sister, the Christmas Witch. Kristtörn has just woken up after a very long sleep, and when she wakes, she finds out that her brother has given up on Christmas. In fact, Kringle Corporation is in charge of Christmas now, and Kris Kringle is nowhere to be found. Kristtörn knows she must find her brother after she goes to the Christmas festival in the town, where she finds Donner, Santa’s reindeer. She is able to communicate with Donner and get her powers back. With her powers, she creates a dark fog over the town with a message in the sky to Santa. When Santa finally emerges, he tells her that he listened to one of his elves and because the parents and children stopped having the Christmas spirit, he decided to give it all up.
This book is a bit melancholy throughout but with a happy ending. I recommend it to older children who will rejoice in the Christmas spirit and what Christmas is all about. The color illustrations are wonderful and go perfectly with the story. Co-written by actor Aubrey Plaza.
