Bear has a very nice garden. He has lots of pretty flowering plants. A new plant grows in his garden that doesn’t seem to want to bloom. Bear takes very good care of his new plant. He makes sure it has plenty of water. He makes sure it gets plenty of light but protects it from too much hot sunlight. It doesn’t seem to matter what Bear does, the plant simply doesn’t bloom. While all this is going on, there is an entirely different story going on underground, and it is just as important a story.

Author and illustrator Katarína Macurová has created a clever double story that will keep youngsters engaged and guessing what is to come. The story of Bear in his garden has dialogue, but the story of the rabbits living underground in their burrow is told entirely through illustrations and charming, cute illustrations they are with soft colors and plenty of fun details. But the center of the story is the plant, which looks completely different above ground than below. Little listeners will love this fun story and will learn a little bit too.
