The Tree in Me

The Tree in Me is a poetic picture book, full of symbolism, about our connection with nature and everything around us. From our friends to our family to the wind and the bees, we rely on and are strengthened by all those around us because we are all connected. We are not all that different from each other.

Let me just say that the art in this book is absolutely gorgeous! I wanted to review this book simply for the art alone. The colors that Luyken chose to use, all the fuchsia and coral colors, are breathtaking. I just love how all the little children have rosy fuchsia cheeks! Luyken has the ability to make the fuchsia-colored apple that a little girl is eating look so mouthwatering that I want a bite of it. I love how she is able to capture the simple joy in life, the tranquility of nature, and the innocence of children.

I recommend this book to families to enjoy with one another, especially when celebrating Earth Day.
